Igniting a vision

There is a rare moment I live for. It is the birth of a vision in a person’s mind. It is the second when, for the first time they see, actually see, the picture of the future they are about to create.

I found the secret to converting that vague sense of future you have into a real crystal clear image of a future that truly inspires you is to “tap into” the entrepreneur that exists in each of us and to truly imagine yourself unlocking that future and making it real.

It is the combination of the 2 most important human skills: Vision + entrepreneurship that the spark is created, and a vision is born.

Vision+ Entrepreneurship

Vision is the most powerful skill humans have been given. The ability to close your eyes and imagine a world that doesn’t exist yet. To see it in all it’s glory and be changed by that image of possibility, to the extent that you can’t help but spend your time, resources and passion to unlocking that vision and making it real.

But vision alone isn’t enough. It needs it’s “sister gift”. Entrepreneurship: The ability to turn a vision into reality through action.

We are all entrepreneurs in the sense that we have been given the innate skill to create worlds. Entrepreneurship, unlike what some would like you to think, isn’t about raising money and building startups. Entrepreneurship is the refusal to accept the current reality, embrace your innate ability to change the world, and then going out there and doing something about it.

It is when you combine these two skills that you ignite the true spark of creation:

  1. Vision: What future world do I want to live in?
  2. Entrepreneurship: What is my role in creating that world and how am I going to make it real?

The spark

Yesterday I was talking to a dear friend of mine. We talked about multiple things until my friend raised a pain he feels in this world that he feels a need to solve. It wasn’t the first time I heard my friend talk about this pain. It comes up from time to time. But this conversation was different.

As we were talking I felt the fog start to clear and an image started to appear (I will not go into the details because it is his vision to share)… For the first time, I could see the future he was imagining. More importantly, he could see it. And even though we were thousands of miles apart I could feel him vibrating with excitement.

What ignited the vision was the conversation about possible, real work applications of that vision. it was when his innate entrepreneurship struck his vision that, like two flintstones, a spark was ignited.

He couldn’t stop. Within minutes we could already see at least 3 real applications where we would start generating impact within weeks… While at the same time it was clear that the future image he was imagining would take a lifetime to unlock.

It is when vision strikes entrepreneurship that the two skills ignite the spark that can send you on a lifetime journey.

Once you see a vision you can’t unsee it

“I see it man” I told him all full excitement.

He listened and was quiet… I know how important that problem is for him… I know for the first time that he will pursue it with all his heart.. And then he told me “Once you see it you can’t unsee it!”

And I got the goosebumps…
